The T3 Awards:

11 years celebrat ing tech excellence

T3 - - Awards 2017 -

Every year, the T3 Awards somehow manages to better the last one, and it’s been a long and fascinating road to 2017

The best celebrities, the finest locations and booze that never seems to stop flowing. The T3 Awards is a particularly special occasion in the calendar year, highlighting the best that’s come over the last 12 months – its winners walking away with a weighty piece of metal in the form of the T3 gong, while runner-ups walk away with a slight headache. 11 years seems like a lifetime, and in the tech industry a lot changes in that sort of time frame. Look at it this way – the iPhone has only just reached 10 years mature, and what did we do for fun on the go before then? Funnily enough, a year before the world would witness the first iPhone, there was the very first T3 Awards event, and the only smartphone to appear was RIM’s Crackberry. Yes, there was a time when it was riding a mobile high.

Clearly, though, this inaugural event was one with an emphasis very much on tech to make our lives more fun. There were umpteen games consoles from the likes of Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo. Philips even came up with a 6.1 surround sound system – it didn’t really take off, but hey, why not? Any guess as to what claimed Gadget of the Year back then? It was only Apple with the classic iPod – proof that

T3 judges have always known a good ’un when they see it.
