SOUND IN THE ROUND

The Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound formats have transformed the home cinema experience just as much as 4K and HDR pictures have. These so-called object-based sound systems create a three-dimensional sound space into which effects are placed with pin-point accuracy, rather than just sounding locked to your speakers. The result is sounds that appear to the side, behind and even above you, creating a perfect dome of precise and textured audio that puts you at the heart of the action like never before. Although Dolby Atmos and DTS:X were originally designed for films, Dolby Atmos, at least, is also increasingly turning up both on streamed and broadcast TV shows. There’s even a growing amount of Dolby Atmos music available from Tidal and Amazon.
