Food meets art in PHUKET

anan­tara Phuket layan Re­sort & spa has launched a unique se­ries of dining events that com­bine gas­tro­nomic cre­ations and the cre­ative arts. ex­ec­u­tive Chef Um­berto Pic­col­ini col­lab­o­rates with thai­land’s most in­trigu­ing cre­ative tal­ents in art and gas­tron­omy evenings on the last Fri­day of ev­ery month through­out 2015. the first event com­bined Pic­col­ini’s culi­nary skill with the artis­tic tal­ents of five renowned Phuket pain­ters, be­gin­ning with a sun­set cock­tail re­cep­tion and art ex­hi­bi­tion be­fore the main event: a five-course gourmet din­ner that blended art and food. the sec­ond event was in­spired by ital­ian mu­si­cal com­poser Gioachino Rossini, with dishes such as stuffed Riga­toni ‘tanti af­fetti;’ Medal­lions of Veal ‘Rossini at the Ritz;’ and Baked ap­ple ‘ Wil­liam tell,’ paired with se­lected wines, and acous­tic ren­di­tions of Rossini’s com­po­si­tions by ac­claimed thai-French tenor Yves Baron le tenor.
