Celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday
Bring your appetite to celebrate the sesquicentennial of Confederation, when hundreds of festivals, culinary events and special activities will take place in 2017 across Canada. In Toronto, brew fans won’t want to miss Go Tours Canada’s Booze and Politics tours designed to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation. Hosted within the historic Distillery District, the special tours will illustrate how alcohol shaped Canada’s early economy and was an important clean drinking source. In Ottawa and Gatineau, the Alexandra Bridge walkway will be laid with sod to create picnic spots for The Interprovincial Picnic on the Bridge overlooking Parliament Hill and the Ottawa River. This year also happens to be Montreal’s 375th birthday so celebratory events, attractions and commemorations will stretch from the St Lawrence River to the top of Mount Royal. Highlights include giant puppets, historythemed public art and birthday cake on the official anniversary of the founding of Montreal on May 17, 2017.
