Taste & Travel - - Dispatches -

Mark your calendar to visit the whimsical Italian-style village of Portmeirion in North Wales during the annual Portmeirion Food & Craft Fair from December 1–3, 2017. From sampling local ale brewed by Cwrw Llyn (housed in a converted cowshed), watching cooking demonstrations or shopping for artisanal crafts, visitors will enjoy exploring the candy-hued tourist village. Built by the imaginative architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1974, Portmeirion combines a stunning setting on its own private peninsula and romantic architecture with a healthy dose of quirky eccentricity. Diners can choose from an assortment of eateries including the art deco Hotel Portmeirion Restaurant, where award-winning chef Mark Threadgill whips up innovative fare that emphasizes regional produce such as seared king scallops or lavender and honey roasted duck breast.
