What's new in the world of culi­nary travel.

The Wil­lard In­ter­Con­ti­nen­tal Washington DC will be cel­e­brat­ing its 200th an­niver­sary in 2018 and to com­mem­o­rate this mile­stone the his­toric ho­tel will be of­fer­ing monthly His­tory Happy Hours. Led by the leg­endary 30-year bar­tender at The Wil­lard's iconic Round Bar, the in­ter­ac­tive events will be held on the third Thursday of each month and will fea­ture Amer­i­can his­tory as well as hands-on lessons on the art of cock­tail mak­ing. Lo­cated in the heart of the na­tion's cap­i­tal, two blocks from the White House, the Wil­lard In­ter­Con­ti­nen­tal has hosted al­most every US pres­i­dent since Franklin Pierce in 1853 and was the site where states­man Henry Clay in­tro­duced the Mint Julep out­side Ken­tucky. The bour­bon­based cock­tail is now the Round Bar's sig­na­ture drink.
