What's new in the world of culinary travel.

The Willard InterContinental Washington DC will be celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2018 and to commemorate this milestone the historic hotel will be offering monthly History Happy Hours. Led by the legendary 30-year bartender at The Willard's iconic Round Bar, the interactive events will be held on the third Thursday of each month and will feature American history as well as hands-on lessons on the art of cocktail making. Located in the heart of the nation's capital, two blocks from the White House, the Willard InterContinental has hosted almost every US president since Franklin Pierce in 1853 and was the site where statesman Henry Clay introduced the Mint Julep outside Kentucky. The bourbonbased cocktail is now the Round Bar's signature drink. A gracious stay, The Willard features 335 elegantly appointed guest rooms with a unique mix of contemporary luxury and historic charm.
