BEECHWOOD An emerging Ottawa Eat Street with pubs, coffee shops, a kitchenwar­e emporium, bakeries and a number of noteworthy restaurant­s.

BYWARD MARKET The area surroundin­g the ByWard Market is one of Ottawa's hottest and most central 'hoods. Along with the farmers' market itself, some of Ottawa's best restaurant­s and shops can be found here.

CHINATOWN Somerset St W. between Rochester St and Bay St is the best place to get your fill of cheap and tasty Asian eats. Just look for the opulent archway near Bronson Ave to know you're in the thick of it.

LITTLE ITALY Preston St (dubbed Corso Italia) is chock full of Italian pride — as well as some of the best eats in town. Keep an eye open for local events throughout the year.

MANOTICK Just south of the city is the charming riverside village of Manotick. Spend the day exploring the heritage district's boutiques, restaurant­s, cafés and specialty food shops and visit the historic Watson's Mill for a sack of stone-ground flour or a loaf of wholewheat bread.

THE GLEBE/OLD OTTAWA SOUTH While they're technicall­y two separate neighbourh­oods, both share a common main street (Bank St) and offer a plethora of fantastic restaurant­s and shops. WELLINGTON WEST/HINTONBURG

Wellington St W. encompasse­s the eclectic neighbourh­oods of Wellington West and Hintonburg — two hot spots that are currently enjoying some serious gentrifica­tion.

WESTBORO The stretch of Richmond Rd between Island Park Dr. and Golden Ave is known for its tight-knit community vibe, as well as its ever-increasing array of great eateries and boutiques.
