HEY GANG,

TekSavvy Insider - - Insider Update -

Data consumption is a hot topic lately. Have you received a notification regarding your usage, or perhaps found your monthly invoice to be a little higher and thought to yourself, “there’s no way I’ve used this much data! There must be something wrong.” It’s happened to us all. Sometimes the most innocent download can wreak havoc on your data cap without you realizing it. Being on the go constantly, we’ve begun to incorporate cloud storage into our daily lives. This allows us to access important documents or media from any device no matter where we are – as long as we have an active and suitable Internet connection. If you’ve ever uploaded files to cloud services such as Dropbox, whenever you access that information you are downloading a copy of it to your device from the cloud. While uploading information from a Tek Savvy connection will not count towards your data use, retrieving this information can quickly begin adding up. Plenty of programs and devices have the ability – and need – to download update files automatically behind the scenes, to make our lives easier. This may be causing you to eat up your data without knowing it. Many programs and devices have download schedulers that allow you to specify time frames for downloads. With Tek Savvy’s unlimited downloads between 2am – 8am, this is perfect. When you are home enjoying your Tek Savvy service, it’s always a great idea to be mindful of how much data you are using. If you aren’t sure what you need in terms of bandwidth, we have the Tek Savvy Find Your Plan handy tool to help. Check out the My Account customer portal that allows you to track your monthly data consumption and plan your use accordingly. If you believe there is a better speed or data cap for your needs, you may request a change of service through the customer portal.
