2015 ACADEMY AWARD: TSI WEIGHS IN
The 87th Academy Awards took place on February 22nd at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and, although it wasn’t exactly celebrating a smash hit year at box offices for Hollywood, it was nevertheless as high profile and lavishly produced a ceremony as we
have come to expect from one of the highlights in the movie industry’s calendar.
This year’s ceremony was all about the underdog, in that the bulk of nominations came not for big budget, high profile offerings, but rather for more low- key, artistic efforts like Richard Linklater’s Boyhood, Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman and Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, but that shift in focus might just be exactly what Hollywood needs right now, at a time where ill- advised remakes and sequels, and big- budget, low- quality efforts fill cinema
