It is with great sad­ness that we an­nounce the pass­ing of Richard Salem Joseph, age 65, of Amherst on Thurs­day, Au­gust 31, 2017 at the Cum­ber­land Re­gional Health Care Cen­tre in Up­per Nap­pan.

Born Jan­uary 18, 1952 in Amherst, Richard was a son of the late Ni­cholas and Vic­to­ria (Khoury) Joseph.

Richard owned and op­er­ated R. Joseph Gro­cery for many years af­ter sell­ing the store he worked as a Real­tor Agent for Purdy Broth­ers Realty. He also worked for many years at Jerry’s Su­perette and Dickie’s Meat Ltd. Richard loved his fam­ily very much and en­joyed trav­el­ling, base­ball and naps af­ter sup­per. He will be deeply missed.

There will be a small pri­vate gath­er­ing of fam­ily and friends in a Cel­e­bra­tion of Life at a later date. Cre­ma­tion has taken place un­der the care and di­rec­tion of Camp­bell’s Fu­neral Home, Amherst (902) 667-9906.

Richard will be lov­ingly re­mem­bered by his daugh­ters, Leighann (Rhys) Owain, Johannesburg, South Africa, and Ni­colle (Frank) Wil­son, Amherst; sis­ter, Ann Joseph, Hal­i­fax; sis­ter in laws, Gini Frail, Fal­mouth, NS, Stephanie Hunter (Car­son Richards), Hal­i­fax; brother in law, David (Kathy) Hunter, Au­gusta, Ge­or­gia; aunt, Salwa Khoury as well as many cousins from the Khoury and Man­sour fam­ily; nieces and neph­ews. In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, Richard was pre­de­ceased by his wife, Lana Joan (Hunter) in 2014; brother in law, Mark Frail; aunt, Alexan­dria (Theo) Man­sour; un­cle, Ge­orge Khoury.
