Richard Salem Joseph
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Salem Joseph, age 65, of Amherst on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan.
Born January 18, 1952 in Amherst, Richard was a son of the late Nicholas and Victoria (Khoury) Joseph.
Richard owned and operated R. Joseph Grocery for many years after selling the store he worked as a Realtor Agent for Purdy Brothers Realty. He also worked for many years at Jerry’s Superette and Dickie’s Meat Ltd. Richard loved his family very much and enjoyed travelling, baseball and naps after supper. He will be deeply missed.
There will be a small private gathering of family and friends in a Celebration of Life at a later date. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst (902) 667-9906.
Richard will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Leighann (Rhys) Owain, Johannesburg, South Africa, and Nicolle (Frank) Wilson, Amherst; sister, Ann Joseph, Halifax; sister in laws, Gini Frail, Falmouth, NS, Stephanie Hunter (Carson Richards), Halifax; brother in law, David (Kathy) Hunter, Augusta, Georgia; aunt, Salwa Khoury as well as many cousins from the Khoury and Mansour family; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his wife, Lana Joan (Hunter) in 2014; brother in law, Mark Frail; aunt, Alexandria (Theo) Mansour; uncle, George Khoury.
