Trin­ity-St. Stephen’s UCW restarts af­ter sum­mer

The Septem­ber meet­ing of Trin­ity-St. Stephen’s UCW was held on Tues­day with Glo­ria Frasier in the chair. She pre­sented the re ec­tion en­ti­tled e One Who Un­der­stands from Our Daily Liv­ing pub­li­ca­tion and closed with a short prayer.

Glo­ria also asked us to keep the fam­i­lies of the late Sheila Pipes, Kay Mul­lett, Arthur Con­rad and Mary Liv­ing­stone in our prayers as well as Ma­rina Rus­sell, Mary Dick­e­son, Sandy Burke and Carolyn Sea­man who all lost fam­ily mem­bers.

Our thoughts and prayers are also with Eve­lyn Smith (Vic­to­ria Street), Daphne Cullen, Alice Har­ri­son, Mel­cora Brown and Judy Jonah who are all deal­ing with health is­sues and Charles and Jean Smith who are both wait­ing for sur­gi­cal calls.

Let­ters of thank you from Camp Ta-Wa-Si , Olivia and Beth, and Ruth Gam­ble deal­ing with fi­nan­cial sup­port and re­fresh­ments were read and noted. Re­ports were pre­sented and ap­proved with a spe­cial note that two mem­bers re­ceived life mem­ber­ships and two other ladies have joined the UCW.

The sub­ject of poverty dolls (given to mem­bers of par­lia­ment in recog­ni­tion of child poverty) was brought up and mem­bers who are able are asked to check out the pat­tern in the o ce and make some as it is hoped that every MP will re­ceive one. Please have com­pleted dolls at the con­fer­ence o ce by Oct. 23.

All the units had lun­cheons or sup­pers for their clos­ing meet­ings and are now ready for the fall start-up meet­ings. ere was a thank you from Unit 3 for the as­sis­tance they re­ceived with the turkey salad take-out and Unit 1 is look­ing for gin­ger­breads as part of the Sun­dae Shoppe in con­nec­tion with the Fi­bre Arts Quilt Dis­play at Trin­ity-St Stephen’s. We are also look­ing for quilts as well, please.

Sept 16 - Women’s re­treat at Camp Ta-Wa-Si, 9:30 till 3:30. Don’t for­get some­thing for morn­ing break and lunch.

Sept 23 - Town food drive, please leave do­na­tions on doorstep.

Sept 24 - “Souper Sun­day” fol­low­ing ser­vice

Oct 1 - We will be join­ing the Bap­tist Church for morn­ing ser­vice, It is Rev. By­ron Corkum’s re­tire­ment ser­vice. We all want to wish him the best!

Units 3 and 4 will be re­spon­si­ble for Oct kitchen cleanup fol­low­ing church.
