Agatha E. Pea­cock

Agatha E. Pea­cock, 94 years of age, of Pug­wash, for­merly of Amherst, passed away on Mon­day, Septem­ber 11, 2017 at the East Cum­ber­land Lodge, Pug­wash. Born in Amherst, she was a daugh­ter of the late John & Clissie (Allen) Pea­cock.

She was ed­u­cated in the Amherst school sys­tem, as well as tak­ing her busi­ness com­mer­cial course from Saint Charles. In her ear­lier years she was a val­ued and well re­spected em­ployee in the of­fices at the Canada Car and Foundry Co. In later years she was in­volved in the fam­ily busi­ness “Pea­cock’s Gro­cery” and re­tired due to ill health in 1985.

She was a mem­ber of Christ Church, Amherst, for­mer sun­day school teacher and also taught sun­day school at the High­land Bap­tist Church, Amherst for sev­eral years and was also in­volved in youth groups.

Teddy, as she was known by to most peo­ple had a very kind heart and was al­ways ready to lend a help­ing hand to any­one in need.

She is sur­vived by cousin: Arnold Pea­cock, Amherst NS; close friends Bill & Diana MacKay & fam­ily .

She was pre­de­ceased by her only sis­ter; Mrs. Kathaleen Ayer, cousins Keith & Al­li­son Good­win, Eleanor Sny­der.

Her re­mains rested at Fur­long Jones Fu­neral Home where vis­i­ta­tion was held on Fri­day, Septem­ber 15, 2017 from 12- 2 p.m. where the fu­neral ser­vice fol­lowed im­me­di­ately at 2 p.m. Burial was in the fam­ily plot in the Amherst Ceme­tery.

In lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions may be made in her mem­ory to the Heart and Stroke Foun­da­tion or char­ity of your choice.
