The Septem­ber meet­ing of Holy Fam­ily CWL was held on Wed­nes­day, Sept. 13. Francine Ro­bichaud wel­comed ev­ery­one back. Dea­con Howard Gotell lead us in the ‘League Prayer’ fol­lowed by the singing of O Canada.

Spir­i­tual: Diane Yary­movich re­minded us that Oc­to­ber is the month of the Rosary, with Oct. 7 be­ing the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary and Oct. 13 be­ing the day of the fi­nal visit of Mary to Fa­tima. This is the time to com­mit to pray­ing the rosary ev­ery­day.

The min­utes of our June meet­ing were read and ap­proved.

Maria Kirk­patrick pre­sented the Trea­surer’s Re­port.

Pat Weather­bee read the read the cor­re­spon­dence in Deb­bie’s ab­sence: We re­ceived thank you cards from Ivy Legere, from the fam­ily of John Boom, and a thank you from ‘Save the Fam­ily Plan’ for our do­na­tion. Pat then ac­knowl­edged the death of Life Time CWL mem­ber Rita Mae Mun­roe. We re­ceived a let­ter from Glenna O’Quinn re­gard­ing Med­i­cally As­sisted Death and Moral Dis­tress in Catholic Health Pro­fes­sion­als.

Spe­cial Re­ports

Fall Turkey Sup­per: Marg MacDon­ald stated that our an­nual turkey din­ner is Sun­day, Oct. 1 with take-outs avail­able as well as free de­liv­ery to se­niors.

Monthly Re­ports

Or­ga­ni­za­tion: Pauline Pet­ti­grew no­ti­fied the na­tional of­fice of the death of two of our mem­bers and has re­ceived con­fir­ma­tion of their re­ceipt.

Spir­i­tual: Diane Yary­movich reported mem­bers formed an honour guard for de­ceased mem­bers Terri McGee and Sheila Mar­shall. The Book of Life was signed dur­ing each mass and it was men­tioned by sev­eral mem­bers of each fam­ily that it was a beau­ti­ful ad­di­tion to the ser­vice.

Chris­tian Fam­ily Life: Mary Lynne Chap­man reported that we hosted seven funeral re­cep­tions since our last meet­ing. We have be­come aware of a num­ber of peo­ple at­tend­ing our funeral re­cep­tions who have food al­ler­gies. We now make ac­com­mo­da­tions for those with al­ler­gies. Mary Lynn thanked all those who pre­pared food or helped at the re­cent funeral re­cep­tions.

Com­mu­nity Life: Pat Frenette sent a get well card to Pauline Grif­fiths in June. She vis­ited Rita Davison and gave her a Get Well Card. A sym­pa­thy card was sent to the McGee fam­ily in July. Pat started a new project of mak­ing new­born baby hats for the hospi­tal. To date she has knit­ted four dozen.

Com­mu­ni­ca­tion: Pat Weather­bee reported that a write-up of our June meet­ing was posted on our Face­book page and was printed in the Amherst News on June 23. Ad­ver­tis­ing for our Fall Fair Turkey Din­ner has taken place. The is­sue of Pornog­ra­phy should con­tinue to be a con­cern for mem­bers and their fam­i­lies. At a later meet­ing, we will be pro­vid­ing let­ters against pornog­ra­phy that mem­bers can sign and send to mem­bers of par­lia­ment.

Ed­u­ca­tion and Health: Pauline Kel­le­grew will de­liver a cheque to the Amherst Preschool to cover our com­mit­ment to pro­vide nu­tri­tious snacks for the 48 chil­dren who at­tend who at­tend their pro­gram for the month Oc­to­ber.

Youth Re­port: Glenna O’Quinn thanked the CWL for their prayer sup­port, vol­un­teers and fi­nan­cial sup­port. The Va­ca­tion Bible Camp this past sum­mer was very suc­cess­ful with a to­tal of 150 youth and vol­un­teers.

Tea and Sale Raf­fle: Francine reported that mem­bers have turned in ticket money plus sales from sell­ing at a lo­cal venue. Mem­bers will be con­tacted to sell at fu­ture venues.

Busi­ness Aris­ing from the Min­utes:

- A spe­cial thank you was of­fered to all those who brought in lunch for the Bible Camp in July.

- Con­grat­u­la­tions to Alana Legere on the birth of her baby boy on Au­gust 22.

- Our du­ties for the ‘Kitchen Klean’ are March and Oc­to­ber. A list of guide­lines is posted on what our du­ties will be for those 2 months.

New Busi­ness

Sis­ter Theresa’s Farewell Re­cep­tion: Will be held on Sun­day, Sept. 24.

Min­istries Lists: Vi Cor­bett reported on the min­istries lists. She in­vited any­one able and will­ing to par­take in the rosary at Gables on Thurs­days. Please con­tact Vi if in­ter­ested.

CWL Day Work­shop: Will take place on Satur­day, Oct. 21 here at Holy Fam­ily and pre­sented by Pro­vin­cial Pres­i­dent, Peggy MacNeil and her team. We will pro­vide the lunch.

Our next meet­ing will be Wed­nes­day, Oct. 11 at 7p.m.

Dea­con Gotell’s Re­marks:

The Dea­con re­minded us to re­mem­ber in prayer those who have prop­erty in Florida.

Start­ing in Oc­to­ber the week­day mass on Wed­nes­days will be at 6:30 and the Ex­po­si­tion of the Blessed Sacra­ment will take place be­fore Mass. Fa­ther Craig will give more in­for­ma­tion in the next few weeks. Howard asked our mem­bers to con­sider be­ing pre­sent for the Ex­po­si­tion. Also since Oc­to­ber is the ‘Month of Mary’ Howard asked us to con­sider say­ing the Rosary be­fore our meet­ing.

Dea­con Howard read from the gospel of Luke and the story of Je­sus, Mary and Martha.

Mo­tion to ad­journ the meet­ing was made by Eva O’Byrne.

Howard led us in a clos­ing prayer.

A Bring & Buy Sale was con­ducted af­ter the meet­ing with Shirley Le­Blanc as Auc­tion­eer and Shauna Gra­ham as as­sis­tant.
