RCMP in­ves­ti­gat­ing ar­son in­volv­ing off duty of­fi­cer’s cars

Po­lice won’t say if of­fi­cer was tar­geted by ar­son­ists

TIDNISH BRIDGE – Cum­ber­land RCMP are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a sus­pi­cious car fire early Tues­day that dam­aged two ve­hi­cles of an off duty RCMP of­fi­cer.

The off duty of­fi­cer saw a small car speed­ing away on High­way 366 in the di­rec­tion of Pug­wash. He had been alerted by the bark­ing of his dogs.

The in­te­ri­ors of both ve­hi­cles were dam­aged and the Tidnish Bridge Vol­un­teer Fire Depart­ment ex­tin­guished the fires.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve some­thing flammable was placed in­side the ve­hi­cles. No one was hurt.

Po­lice will not say whether the of­fi­cer was tar­geted.
