Trinity-St. Stephen’s UCW to continue Christmas stocking program
The October UCW meeting was held in Kimball Lounge with Jean Smith of Unit 4 In the chair. She handed out new UCW pamphlets to the 16 members present and invited Mary Dickeson to present reflections, the subject of which was to remind us of the bounty of God’s blessing.
Prayers go out to the families of Bill Schubert and Ginger Maston and also to those who have health issues or upcoming surgery.... named were Gloria Frasier, Jack Touchie, Treva Hebb and Timmy Howatt. We were pleased to hear that Melcora Brown was doing much better following her second surgery and had attended “Open Circle” that week.
Highlights from the meeting were as follows;
We will continue the Christmas stocking program as we continue to receive a good response from this effort
Correspondence was a thankyou card from Judy Jonah and a letter from Unit 2 stating they would like to see the UCW contribution to the church treasury removed from the budget.
Evelyn Bishop reported that two new sets of Godly Plays have been ordered for Sunday School. Heading up the Sunday school program are Wanda Bickle and Dodie Dickinson.
Members of the congregational care committee reported that the muffin morning went well. Their next project is getting Christmas cards and plants for our shut-ins. There are plans for a Feb. and May muffin morning as well.
There will be a teller/usher workshop on Oct. 15 following the morning service.
The UCW rally at Camp TaWa-Si was well attended with 11 of our members in attendance. Chignecto Presbyterial will meet at Sackville UC on Oct. 26 beginning at 9:30 a.m. - it is hoped that each unit will have a rep. at the meeting.
The list of food items needed for the Christmas cheer boxes will be in the bulletin on Oct. 8, also units are asked to state what food stuffs each unit will be responsible for. Dates for upcoming events: Oct. 13 and 14, there will be a “Sundae Shoppe” featuring different kinds of sundaes (and also ginger bread) and tea and coffee at TSSUC as part of Trinity’s part in the Fiber Festival. There will be an open quilt display in the sanctuary.
Oct. 22 “Souper Sunday” will be held following the church service.
Oct. 28 Rummage/Yard sale will begin at 9AM on Sat with setup on Fri after 1PM.
Nov. 18 Bethlehem Market.... information to follow
Dec. 5 UCW pot luck lunch at noon with Units 1&2 responsible for worship and program and Units 3&4 responsible for setup and clean up.
Next meeting will be held on Nov 7. with Unit 1 responsible for reflection and chairing the meeting.
