Cob­bett wins Skate Canada sec­tional gold on home ice in Amherst

AMHERST – Sa­vanah Cob­bett won gold at the 2018 Skate Canada Sec­tion­als fig­ure skat­ing com­pe­ti­tion at Amherst Sta­dium over the week­end. She said she was sur­prised she won.

“I think a lot of train­ing, a lot of ef­fort, con­fi­dence, and fo­cus­ing on my per­for­mance made it feel bet­ter, and skat­ing at home helped too,” said the 10-year-old.

Cob­bett won in the Pre-Ju­ve­nile, Women’s Un­der-11 cat­e­gory, and she was the only fig­ure skater from the Amherst Skat­ing Club rep­re­sented at the com­pe­ti­tion.

The Sec­tion­als com­pe­ti­tion at­tracted 103 skaters from Nova Sco­tia, New Brunswick and PEI.

Cob­bett has been fig­ure skat­ing since she was two-years-old.
