Pre-tour­na­ment tick­ets on sale Fri­day

Truro to host ex­hi­bi­tion games Dec. 8, in­clud­ing Bearcats vs. Czech Re­pub­lic

Pre-tour­na­ment hockey tick­ets for the up­com­ing World Ju­nior A Chal­lenge at the RECC will be avail­able be­gin­ning Fri­day.

Two of the three pre-tour­na­ment games at the RECC are $10 per game or fans can buy the pack­age deal for $15.

Those games, sched­uled for Dec. 8, in­clude the Truro Bearcats ju­nior team against the Czech Re­pub­lic at 3:30 p.m., fol­lowed by Canada East tak­ing on the United States at 7:30 p.m.

The third pre-tour­na­ment game, be­tween Canada West and Rus­sia, will take place at the Amherst Sta­dium.

“It is a great hon­our for our en­tire or­ga­ni­za­tion to be in­volved in a pre-tour­na­ment game dur­ing the World Ju­nior A Chal­lenge, said Bearcats head coach Shawn Evans.

“This is a once-in-a-life­time ex­pe­ri­ence for our play­ers and a mem­ory that they will hold for­ever.”

Evans will serve as as­so­ciate coach for Canada East and will be joined by Bearcats equip­ment man­ager Steve Lind­sey. The World Ju­nior A Chal­lenge hockey tour­na­ment will be played Dec. 10 to 16 at the Rath Eastlink Com­mu­nity Cen­tre in Truro. Three pre-tour­na­ment games will be played on Dec. 8, in­clud­ing two at the RECC.

The World Ju­nior A Chal­lenge, from Dec. 10 to 16, fea­tures two Cana­dian teams, rep­re­sent­ing East and West, as well as four in­ter­na­tional en­tries vy­ing for a gold medal.

Full tour­na­ment pack­ages are $175 and are the only way to se­cure re­served seat­ing. The pack­age in­cludes all 13 games, but does not in­clude ad­mis­sion to the pre-tour­na­ment games.

All other ticket op­tions will be gen­eral ad­mis­sion.

An evening game pack­age, which in­cludes a gen­eral ad­mis­sion ticket to all six evening games plus the gold medal game, sched­uled for 3 p.m. on Dec. 16, will be avail­able start­ing Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. for $99.50. These pack­ages are lim­ited.

On Dec. 1, all other gen­eral tick­ets will be avail­able for pur­chase. These in­clude sin­glegame tick­ets at $15 per game for the pre­lim­i­nary round, quar­ter­fi­nals and semi­fi­nals, $20 for the bronze-medal game and $25 for the gold-medal game, in­clud­ing taxes and fees.

Also on Dec. 1, fans can pur­chase a day pass for $25 that gives ac­cess to both games on any given day from Dec. 10-14. A Fam­ily 4-Pack will be avail­able as well, giv­ing a fam­ily of four ac­cess to any game from Dec. 10-14 for $49.50.

As a special thank-you, names of full-tour­na­ment pack­age hold­ers will be in­cluded on a rink board, which will be dis­played in the RECC af­ter the World Ju­nior A Chal­lenge to high­light their sup­port for the tour­na­ment. In or­der to have their name in­cluded, fans must pur­chase their tour­na­ment pack­ages by Nov. 13.
