Spring is of­fi­cially here! We here at the “A” Team would like to ex­tend our warm­est wishes and thoughts to you for a Happy Spring ahead.

Although there may still be some ev­i­dence left­over from the win­ter sea­son, spring­time is fi­nally here and we hope that you will con­tinue to join with us in help­ing to keep Amherst clean and tidy.

Spring wel­comes along with it an op­por­tu­nity for a fresh start and new growth. We will be form­ing a Com­mu­ni­ties in Bloom com­mit­tee this spring to help us im­prove upon our com­mu­nity as a whole.

A pub­lic meet­ing will be held at the Com­mu­nity Credit Union Build­ing In­no­va­tion Cen­tre at 5 Ratch­ford St. on Wed­nes­day, April 11 at 6 p.m.

If you are in­ter­ested in be­com­ing an ac­tive mem­ber of the Com­mu­ni­ties in Bloom com­mit­tee, we wel­come you to at­tend.

Did you know that Earth Hour is this Satur­day, March 24 from 8:30 to 9:30pm? Earth Hour is the world’s largest grass­roots move­ment for the en­vi­ron­ment and we hope that you will par­tic­i­pate and join in by mak­ing your con­tri­bu­tion to help­ing limit the de­mand we place daily on our en­vi­ron­ment.

You may not think that by turn­ing off your lights for one hour you will make a dra­matic im­pact on our en­vi­ron­ment but when you think of all those around the en­tire world mak­ing that same ef­fort to turn off their lights, the im­pact is huge.

You want Ringette? You got it! Join us for free be­gin­ner ringette skills and drills ses­sions at the Amherst Sta­dium on Wed­nes­day, March 28, April 4, and April 11 from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.

Skates, gloves and a CSA ap­proved hel­met are all that you will need to par­tic­i­pate, as sticks and rings will be pro­vided! These ses­sions are open to all youth ages 5 to 15.

Do you love ten­nis and are you in­ter­ested in com­mu­nity sport de­vel­op­ment? Join us for a com­mu­nity ten­nis meet­ing with Ten­nis NS and Sport NS to dis­cuss up­com­ing pro­grams and coach­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties. The Amherst Sta­dium will play host to the Pee­wee AA Main­land play­downs this week­end. This tour­na­ment will fea­ture teams from main­land Nova Sco­tia in­clud­ing our home­town CCMHA Pee­wee AA Ram­blers, users of our free ice pol­icy.

The tour­na­ment will start Fri­day, March 23 and end with the cham­pi­onship game slated for Sun­day, March 25 at 3:45 p.m.

The Amherst Ram­blers may play host to the South Shore Lum­ber­jacks on Sun­day evening at 7 p.m. at the Amherst Sta­dium. This game will take place, only if Game 6 is nec­es­sary.
