Po­lice shut­down Amherst grow-op

The Cum­ber­land In­te­grated Street Crime En­force­ment Unit, with as­sis­tance from Amherst Po­lice Depart­ment, searched a home on Copp Av­enue on March 22, lo­cat­ing an in­door mar­i­juana grow op­er­a­tion.

Po­lice seized mar­i­juana plants, dried mar­i­juana, metham­phetamine, con­tra­band to­bacco, grow equip­ment and other drug para­pher­na­lia.

As a re­sult of the search, a 40-year-old man from Amherst was ar­rested with­out in­ci­dent. He is fac­ing charges of pro­duc­tion of mar­i­juana, pos­ses­sion of mar­i­juana for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing, traf­fick­ing mar­i­juana, and pos­ses­sion of metham­phetamine for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing.

He was re­leased from cus­tody and is sched­uled to at­tend Amherst pro­vin­cial court on May 28. The in­ves­ti­ga­tion is on­go­ing. The Cum­ber­land Dis­trict SCEU is com­prised of mem­bers of Cum­ber­land Dis­trict RCMP and Amherst Po­lice Depart­ment.
