Correctional workers intercept drugs at Springhill Institution
On March 10, as a result of the vigilance of staff members, packages containing contraband were seized in the medium security unit at Springhill Institution.
The contraband items seized included THC and heroin. The total estimated institutional value of this seizure is $18,000.
The police have been notified and the institution is investigating.
The Correctional Service of Canada is heightening measures to prevent contraband and unauthorized items from entering its institutions to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.
CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions.
