Remembrance Day services early in Advocate
Hello from beautiful downtown New Salem!
There are plenty of events to put on your calendar and plan to attend.
On Saturday, Nov. 3 an open mike will be held at the Advocate fire hall at 7 p.m. Proceeds are for the Advocate Volunteer Fire Department. Canteen and 50/50 will be available.
*** Remembrance Day services will be held at the Log Building on Mills Road in Advocate on Sunday, Nov. 4 beginning at 10:45 a.m. A light luncheon will follow. ***
On Friday, Nov. 9, Spencer’s Island Bingo will be held at the Advocate fire hall at 7 p.m.
It’s that time of year again! On Saturday, Nov. 17, it’s Ladies Night at the Advocate fire hall. Admission is $20 per person. Bring your favourite appetizer, main dish or dessert to share with the others.
Doors open for happy hour at 5 p.m. and dinner starts at 6 p.m.
Lots of great auction items, fun games and tons of great food! It’s a fun night out while raising money for the Advocate School.
They are always looking for auction items and door prize items. If you would like to donate items contact Kim MacGillivary or Coralee MacGillivary, or drop off items at the school anytime. ***
The Christmas dance will take place at Advocate School on Thursday, Nov. 29 from 7 to 10 p.m. for students from Grades 7 to 12. The cost is $5 and a storm date will be Dec. 6.
On Saturday, Dec. 8 the Downshore Christmas Market will be held at the Log Building in Advocate Harbour from 9 a.m. to noon.
The Advocate School annual Christmas concert will be held on Dec.18 at 6:30. Storm date will be Dec. 19.
The Meals on Wheels program that operates from the Bayview Health Center is seeing an increase in customers and they need more volunteers to deliver meals on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. If you can help with deliveries or would like to receive this service yourself, call the health centre at 902-392-5400, the kitchen at extension 6035 or the office extension 5402.
