Cham­ber of Com­merce pres­i­dent Toby Leon said the gov­ern­ment could do more to cre­ate more jobs in the pri­vate sec­tor, by stream­lin­ing the process for per­mits and cut­ting back on red tape that is de­lay­ing, or even pre­vent­ing, busi­nesses from start­ing up.

Leon also sug­gested the prov­ince should pro­ceed with a third trans­mis­sion line to Labrador West, the help en­cour­age new busi­nesses.

The Labrador West pre­bud­get con­sul­ta­tion was one of sev­eral be­ing held across the prov­ince.

The Depart­ment of Fi­nance have now wrapped up the con­sul­ta­tion process.
