Run for the hills…and run they did

The Aurora (Labrador City) - - EDITORIAL - BY MIKE POWER

The annual run for the hills event sponsored by Menihek Nordic Ski Club, with assistance from local sponsors, had the perfect fall day for the event this year.

Sunny skies but cool, crisp weather and oh yes quite a bit of wind. Nevertheless, close to 90 people of all ages took part in the event.

The event runs along the Menihek Nordic Ski trail system, resplendent this time of year with fall foliage. For many of the participants who gathered at the lodge afterwards for refreshments and medal presentations it was probably one of the last times they would run over the trails in sneakers for a while. Many hoping the snow would fall in the not too distant future, to give them another season of some of Canada’s best cross country ski trails.
