Blake facing new charge
A former Nunatsiavut politician facing sexual assault charges has been charged with another sex crime.
Roy Blake, the former Ordinary Member for Lake Melville region, is facing a count of sexual interference in addition to two counts of sexual assault he was already charged with.
According to court documents obtained by the Labradorian, the alleged incident took place between January of 2017 and March of 2018 and involves a person under the age of 16.
Blake was running in the election that ended May 1, but pulled out of the running mere weeks before election day. At the time Blake said in a Facebook post he was pulling out of the race due to “negative and inaccurate information” which has “taken its toll on my family and me.”
Blake is scheduled to appear in court on June 11 on the new charge and a preliminary inquiry on the sexual assault charges is set for Sept. 12.
