Of­fi­cers as­saulted

BRAD­FORD — A lo­cal woman faces charges af­ter three po­lice of­fi­cers were as­saulted at an apart­ment and the sta­tion Wed­nes­day night. Just be­fore 10 p.m., South Sim­coe po­lice were called af­ter a neigh­bour heard a loud ar­gu­ment. Ar­riv­ing of­fi­cers heard a man and woman ar­gu­ing, and a child cry­ing. When the two of­fi­cers en­tered the apart­ment, po­lice said, both were as­saulted. A 27-year-old Brad­ford woman was ar­rested and taken from the home, but at the po­lice sta­tion a third of­fi­cer was as­saulted and a po­lice cruiser door dam­aged. Po­lice say a man at the apart­ment was eva­sive with of­fi­cers, not giv­ing his cor­rect name. A check showed he was vi­o­lat­ing his bail con­di­tions; when he was taken to the po­lice sta­tion, a door in the cell area was dam­aged. Po­lice said mar­i­juana was also seized at the apart­ment. A woman was charged with three counts of as­sault­ing po­lice, as­sault with in­tent to re­sist ar­rest, drug pos­ses­sion and mis­chief un­der $5,000. A 29-year-old Markham man was charged with ob­struct­ing po­lice, two counts of breach­ing his bail con­di­tions, drug pos­ses­sion and mis­chief un­der $5,000. Both were held for bail hear­ings. The child was not in­jured and was taken by other fam­ily. The po­lice of­fi­cers did not re­quire med­i­cal at­ten­tion.
