Speeding charges laid
Operation Impact officers with Barrie police laid 23 speeding charges during the Oct. 6-9 enforcement blitz. Other charges laid included stunt driving, two seat belt infractions, two for impaired driving, a roadside sobriety failure resulting in a 72-hour suspension, distracted driving with a cell phone and 33 Highway Traffic Act violations. Operation Impact focuses on high-risk driving behaviour, the so-called ‘Big 4’ of inattentive, aggressive and impaired driving - as well as not wearing seat belts. This initiative is designed to remind drivers that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on roadways.
