Para­me­dia toy drive starts on Fri­day

The 15th an­nual Sim­coe County Para­medic Toy Drive kicks off Fri­day.

Do­na­tions of new and un­wrapped toys will be ac­cepted at var­i­ous lo­ca­tions through­out Sim­coe County dur­ing the hol­i­day sea­son, in­clud­ing Sim­coe County Para­medic Sta­tions and a mul­ti­tude of pa­rades.

In the past 14 years, the toy drive has col­lected 67,000 toys, 20,000 pounds of food and ap­prox­i­mately $126,000 in cash and gift card do­na­tions.

Toys and non-per­ish­able food items can be left at all Sim­coe County Para­medic sta­tions, where out­door drop boxes are now avail­able. All do­na­tions can also be ac­cepted at the county of­fices in Mid­hurst be­tween 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Mon­day to Frida. Paramedics will be tak­ing part in a num­ber of events in the next month, col­lect­ing items for the toy drive. They in­clude the Santa

Claus Pa­rades on Nov. 18 (An­gus, Colling­wood), Nov. 19 (Oril­lia),

Nov. 25 (Mid­land, Wasaga Beach), Nov. 26 (Waubaushene, Stroud), Dec. 2 (Cold­wa­ter, Pene­tan­guishene) and Dec. 3 (Elm­vale, Moon­stone).

You can also find the paramedics at the Sim­coe County Mu­seum’s Christ­mas Past and Present event, which runs Dec. 7-8 and at a va­ri­ety of su­per­mar­kets through­out the county through­out the mid­dle to later parts of De­cem­ber.
