A bouquet for two N.L. Good Samaritans

The Beacon (Gander) - - Editorial -

My husband and I were visiting in St. John’s on Aug. 30, and that morning, walked along Military Road to The Rooms. Along the way, I lost track of my backpack-styled purse.

What an unhappy way to end a great vacation, we thought!

But, a kind-hearted woman found the purse, saw a constable nearby at the Basilica Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, and asked him to take the bag as a lost and found item.

About that same moment, my husband was calling the phone number of the cell, attempting to find out if he could hear it ringing nearby.

The constable retrieved the phone, and answered it.

Voila! Arrangements were hastily made to meet the constable outside The Rooms, and I was soon reunited with my purse.

Thank you to the woman who took the lonely looking purse to the constable, near the Basilica.

Also, thank you to the constable for going out of his way to meet us outside The Rooms.

Newfoundlanders are truly among the best.

Best wishes, Pam Gregg Sidney, B.C.
