How the peo­ple voted in Gan­der

GAN­DER, NL – Gan­der vot­ers have had their say in bring­ing in a new coun­cil for the next four years.

A to­tal of 3,678 out of 6,662 el­i­gi­ble vot­ers– 55.2 per cent – cast a vote dur­ing Gan­der’s mu­nic­i­pal elec­tion on Sept. 26. In the 2013 elec­tion, out 7,209 el­i­gi­ble vot­ers, 3,161 peo­ple marked a bal­lot, mak­ing up 43.84 per cent of the vote.

The vote was car­ried out of 15 polls – 13 res­i­den­tial, one mo­bile and the ad­vance poll.

Out of 14 can­di­dates in the run­ning, the demo­cratic process chose Percy Far­well to be mayor. Tara Pol­lett, Gina Brown, Robert An­stey, Oswald Fudge, Pat Wood­ford and Brian Dove will be coun­cil­lors. Re­sults
