Jeremy Brake goes on his merry snowmobiling way after a friendly chat with municipal police officers, the RCMP and others, on the trail through Gander last Saturday. The agencies were holding an information checkpoint about snow vehicle safety as part of an awareness week. Trail-goers were also asked to fill out a questionnaire for the provincial federation.

Minor Hockey Week was held across the country last week with the provincial theme being development. However, it’s not just during the nationally celebrated week that minor associations such as the one in Gander stress development. During a recent drill in the squirt division, Tori Lake of Gander had to get down and icy under the watchful eye of Paul Matheson.

Since the age of 16, Gander’s Shawn Wiseman has made a career out of music, doing everything from performing, teaching and writing to recording and producing his own songs and jingles.
