Suspects arrested in Milverton bank robbery
A pair from Brampton face multiple charges in connection with recent bank robberies in Milverton and Drayton.
Perth and Wellington OPP officers worked with Peel Region Police after similar thefts occurred in the two small towns and Brampton. Police identified the pair this past weekend – Saturday at 1:15 a.m. – and they were charged in connection to an armed robbery in Brampton. Police say they were also responsible for the pair of robberies in Perth and Wellington counties.
A 45-year-old Brampton man has been charged with two counts each of robbery with a weapon, disguise with intent, and pointing a firearm. A 19-year-old woman from Brampton was also charged with two counts of robbery with a weapon. They will both appear in Stratford court for bail hearings.
The Milverton CIBC was robbed on July 25. At the time police said an unknown male entered the bank with a weapon. They later released images of the suspect.
On Aug. 1, police responded to an incident at the RBC bank in Drayton. In both cases, a man wearing a disguise left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
