Mr. Goldberg Goes to Tel Aviv, by Montreal-born Oren Safdie, premieres at Théâtre St. James, 265 St. Jacques St. W., and runs until March 5. This Infinitheatre production deals with the Israeli-palestinian conflict in a manner that is “part farce, part suspenseful drama.” Tony Goldberg is an award-winning gay Canadian author sympathetic to the Palestinian cause who has come to Israel to deliver a scathing critique of the Israeli government before a left-leaning audience. But things don’t go as smoothly as planned, and Goldberg gets ensnared in a Palestinian terrorist plot that shakes his smug views from the Diaspora, to say the least.
