LOSING WEIGHT FOR PEACE
The 2007 documentary A Slim Peace, about Israelis, Palestinians and Bedouins on the West Bank who came together to lose weight and found they had much more in common, is being shown at the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue at 7 p.m., co-sponsored by Concordia University’s Azrieli Institute of Israel Studies. Religion professor Norma Joseph gives a talk afterward.
RICHLER IN CSL
Emma Richler discusses her new novel Be My Wolff at Côte St. Luc’s Harold Greenspon Auditorium at 7 p.m. This is the story of a sister and her adopted brother who have an unusual connection. She also talks about being the daughter of the late Mordecai Richler in conversation with journalist Anne Lagacé Dowson. Tickets are available at the Côte St. Luc Public Library.
