LOS­ING WEIGHT FOR PEACE

The 2007 doc­u­men­tary A Slim Peace, about Is­raelis, Pales­tini­ans and Be­douins on the West Bank who came to­gether to lose weight and found they had much more in com­mon, is be­ing shown at the Span­ish and Por­tuguese Syn­a­gogue at 7 p.m., co-spon­sored by Con­cor­dia Univer­sity’s Azrieli In­sti­tute of Is­rael Stud­ies. Re­li­gion pro­fes­sor Norma Joseph gives a talk after­ward.

RICHLER IN CSL

Emma Richler discusses her new novel Be My Wolff at Côte St. Luc’s Harold Green­spon Au­di­to­rium at 7 p.m. This is the story of a sis­ter and her adopted brother who have an un­usual con­nec­tion. She also talks about be­ing the daugh­ter of the late Morde­cai Richler in con­ver­sa­tion with jour­nal­ist Anne La­gacé Dow­son. Tick­ets are avail­able at the Côte St. Luc Pub­lic Li­brary.
