An Air Canada flight from Toronto to Is­rael made an un­sched­uled land­ing in Lon­don the morn­ing of Feb. 15 af­ter a wo­man on board be­gan ran­domly chok­ing other pas­sen­gers. The crew of flight AC84 de­clared an avi­a­tion emer­gency over Glas­gow, six hours into the flight, which had de­parted the pre­vi­ous night from Canada. Po­lice were called to Heathrow Air­port to es­cort the wo­man off the plane. Af­ter a one-hour de­lay, it took off again for Is­rael, Ynet­news re­ported.

Vis­its to the Holo­caust Me­mo­rial Cen­ter Zekel­man Fam­ily Cam­pus in a Detroit sub­urb are among the ca­su­al­ties of a Windsor, Ont., school board’s de­ci­sion to sus­pend field trips across the bor­der due to U.S. Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump’s ex­ec­u­tive or­der bar­ring cit­i­zens from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Su­dan, Ye­men and So­ma­lia from en­ter­ing the United States. Greater Es­sex County Dis­trict School Board su­per­in­ten­dent Clara Howitt told the Windsor Star the board wanted to avoid un­pleas­ant sit­u­a­tions for stu­dents. “para­mount for us is stu­dent safety… we re­ally don’t know what will hap­pen to our stu­dents at the bor­der,” she said. When asked, U.S. au­thor­i­ties told the board that kids from the seven coun­tries would be banned.

Holo­caust de­nier charged in Ger­many

Ger­man-cana­dian Holo­caust de­nier Al­fred Schaefer has been charged with crim­i­nal in­cite­ment in Ger­many, af­ter B’nai Brith Canada re­ported his ac­tiv­i­ties to Ger­man of­fi­cials, B’nai Brith said last week. Schaefer is the brother of dis­graced former fed­eral Green party can­di­date Monika Schaefer, who was de­nounced by the party af­ter her Holo­caust de­nial video came to light in 2016. Al­fred Schaefer is also a reg­u­lar cre­ator of anti-semitic videos that glo­rify Hitler, de­scribe Jewish peo­ple as “par­a­sites,” and ac­cuse them of con­spir­ing to elim­i­nate “the Euro­pean race.” Schaefer re­cently ad­dressed a neo-nazi rally in Dres­den, Ger­many, and is also linked to sus­pended Univer­sity of Leth­bridge pro­fes­sor An­thony Hall, a pro­moter of anti-is­rael con­spir­acy the­o­ries.
