Funeral ser­vice for the late Mary He­len Samson, 78, was held Au­gust 31 in Our Lady of As­sump­tion Church with Fa­ther Michel Ex­alant of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Mrs. Samson died Au­gust 25, 2018, at home.

She was a daugh­ter of the late Gor­don and Dorothy Le­blanc. She en­joyed help­ing oth­ers and her com­mu­nity. With her fel­low vol­un­teers, she pre­pared count­less meals at the New Hori­zon Se­nior Cen­tre. With her com­pan­ion Daisy at her side, they bright­ened the lives of se­niors for many years as vol­un­teers for the St. John’s Am­bu­lance Ther­apy Dog pro­gram. She and her hus­band en­joyed go­ing to blue­grass fes­ti­vals through­out Nova Sco­tia and formed last­ing friend­ships and cher­ished mem­o­ries. She en­joyed pick­ing blue­ber­ries, a beach stroll at low tide to search for sea glass and a full house for sup­per, topped off by a game of Pay-me.

She is sur­vived by her hus­band, Ve­nard; daugh­ter, Su­san (Wade) Good­man; grand­daugh­ter, Michaella; her son, Paul (Allen); four stepchil­dren, Sherma (Wayne) Boudreau; Della (Jerry) Maltby; Rod­ney Samson; Tanya (John) My­att; their chil­dren and grand­chil­dren; sis­ter, Yvonne (John) Samson; brother, Ron­ald (Con­nie) Le­blanc; many nieces and neph­ews.

She was pre­de­ceased by four sis­ters, Anna Cameron, Vi­o­let Mac­don­ald, Jean Dorey, Jean­nine Boudreau; brother, Sandy Le­blanc.
