She attended school at Mount St. Bernard, where she demonstrated a talent for the craft of pottery. As a young woman, she worked at Leo’s Corner Store in Antigonish. She married Harold Grant on November 21, 1955 and settled in James River in a home he built for her, where they raised their five children. She devoted her life to being a wife and mother. She enjoyed rocking and singing to her children and grandchildren in her wooden rocking chair, baking cinnamon rolls, biscuits, marble cakes, groundbeef casserole and Christmas potato dressing, each made from her own special recipe. She loved to play pranks and was always open to lending a helping hand. In earlier years, she was an active volunteer for the St. Joseph’s CWL, working at church picnics. Later in life, she enjoyed bingo nights with her husband and their bingo friends. She looked forward to assisting her husband with his annual harvest of their Christmas trees.
