Town of Antigonish welcomes new hire
The Town of Antigonish announced today that Kate Gorman is the successful candidate in a recent competition to fill the municipality’s new position of marketing and communications officer.
In her role, Gorman will be responsible for promoting the Town of Antigonish as a tourism destination, as well as an excellent place for business development and new investment.
Gorman will assume responsibility of the role on Oct. 1. She will work alongside business, tourism and economic development partners to enhance and create new opportunities for longterm sustainability and economic growth.
“This is an essential position for the municipality as we move into new phases of development that will create positive opportunities for the Town of Antigonish. The addition of this position will allow the town to be a more collaborative unit as we seek to grow and expand our reach,” Jeff Lawrence, Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Antigonish, said.
“Kate has demonstrated that she is a capable professional with valuable experience working in areas related to economic development and community advancement. Her strong background in event coordination and strategic communications will contribute to the ongoing efforts being put forward to shape a more vibrant and positive business climate for the Town of Antigonish.”
Gorman was born and raised in Antigonish and pursued her Bachelor of Public Relation’s degree at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax. After graduation in 2014, Gorman launched her career as the communications and marketing co-ordinator with the Cape Breton Partnership in Sydney.
