Fu­neral ser­vice for the late Howard Pa­trick ‘Howie’ Cashin, 71, Port Felix, Guys­bor­ough County, was held Septem­ber 22 in St. Joseph’s Ro­man Catholic Church, Port Felix, with Father Jonathan Nna­jio­for of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial was in the parish ceme­tery.

Mr. Cashin died Septem­ber

16, 2018, in Guys­bor­ough Memo­rial Hospi­tal.

Born Fe­bru­ary 27, 1947, in Port Felix, he was a son of the late Fran­cis and Velda Cashin. He worked at many dif­fer­ent jobs, in­clud­ing the BIO, fish­ing, con­struc­tion, and car­pen­try. He was a ‘jack of all trades’ and mas­tered them all. He was a mem­ber of the Labour­ers’ Union for more than 40 years, a for­mer mem­ber of the Tree Top Vol­un­teer Fire Depart­ment and an ac­tive mem­ber of St. Joseph’s Parish. He did projects for many peo­ple and could be found in Port Felix, White­head, Lit­tle Dover, Char­los Cove or Erinville lend­ing a help­ing hand. He en­joyed fish­ing and hunt­ing with his good friend, Bill; a daily visit with Mary Ann and Doug; a cof­fee with Timmy; tak­ing the news­pa­per to Ce­cil and ice fish­ing in the win­ter with Lau­rie or Chris.

He is sur­vived by his wife of al­most 50 years, Doreen (Marr); daugh­ter, Norma (Dar­rel) Keefe; brother, Don­ald (Alana); three sis­ters, Mary Ann (Doug), Con­nie (Nel­son), Donna (Emery); mother-in-law, Rita David; sis­ter-in­law, Lorna Cashin; many nieces, neph­ews, cousins.

He was pre­de­ceased by two brothers, Rod­die, Rev. Robert; nephew, Ger­ard.
