Fu­neral ser­vice for the late Mary ‘Mar­lene’ Waechter, 78, Port Hawkes­bury, was held Septem­ber 28 in St. Joseph Ro­man Catholic Church, Port Hawkes­bury with Father Con­rad Ed­wards of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Burial was in St. Joseph Parish Ceme­tery.

Mrs. Waechter died Septem­ber 22, 2018, in St. Martha’s Re­gional Hospi­tal, Antigo­nish.

Born in Glace Bay, she was a daugh­ter of the late Joseph and El­iz­a­beth (Burt) Ma­clel­lan. She moved to Port Hawkes­bury in 1962, where she man­aged the lo­cal Simp­sons-sears.

She later worked in Port Hawkes­bury schools as­sist­ing chil­dren with spe­cial learn­ing needs and fin­ished her work­ing ca­reer with her hus­band at the Port Hawkes­bury Air­port un­til their re­tire­ment.

She is sur­vived by her hus­band of 53 years, Don; two sons, Don­ald, Kentville; Bill (Tammy), Leam­ing­ton, On­tario; daugh­ter, Lisa, Lon­don, Eng­land; five grand­chil­dren, Scott, Mark, Va­lerie, Ian, Erin; two brothers, Jim (Elsie) Ma­clel­lan, Glace Bay;

Fred (Pa­tri­cia) Ma­clel­lan, New Water­ford; two sis­ters-in-law, Hugh­ena Ma­clel­lan, New Water­ford; Wilena Waechter, Banff, Al­berta; nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews.

She was pre­de­ceased by three brothers, Danny Ma­clel­lan, two, in in­fancy; four sis­ters, Peggy Gagne, Kay Cameron, Pa­tri­cia Macneil; one, in in­fancy.
