Fu­neral ser­vice for the late Bernard Ger­rard Mac­in­tyre, 83, Port Hawkes­bury, was held Septem­ber 25 in St. Joseph Ro­man Catholic Church, Port Hawkes­bury, with Father Con­rad Ed­wards of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Burial was in the parish ceme­tery.

Mr. Mac­in­tyre died Septem­ber 19, 2018, in Strait Rich­mond Hospi­tal, Evanston.

Born Oc­to­ber 1, 1934, in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Michael and Alice (Webb) Mac­in­tyre. He was a Union Rep for Lo­cal #721 and was a heavy equip­ment op­er­a­tor. He was a mem­ber of the Black Watch

2nd Cana­dian High­land Bat­tal­ion en­ter­ing as a pri­vate on Au­gust 29, 1952, and was hon­or­ably re­leased on July 1, 1966, as Cor­po­ral.

He is sur­vived by his wife, Janet (Lon­ga­phie); four daugh­ters, Kelly Stark (Danny), Elissa Mac­in­tyre, Kim­berly Van Zut­phen, Pa­tri­cia Mac­in­tyre; 11 grand­chil­dren, Mitchell, Justin, Bradley, Gra­cie, Liam, Emma, Abby, Faith, Alexan­der, Adri­anna (Dolly), Katie.

He was pre­de­ceased by brother, Joseph; three sis­ters, Kather­ine, Ce­cilia, Leona.
