Fu­neral ser­vice for the late Peter Alexan­der ‘Seven’ Bernard, 61, We’ko­qma’q First Na­tion, was held Oc­to­ber 4 in the Multi-pur­pose Build­ing, We’ko­qma’q First Na­tion.

Mr. Bernard died Septem­ber 26, 2018, in Vic­to­ria County Me­mo­rial Hos­pi­tal, Bad­deck.

Born Septem­ber 25, 1957, in Syd­ney, he was a son of the late An­nie Mae (Syl­li­boy) and Charles Bernard. He en­joyed fish­ing and spend­ing time with his fam­ily and loved ones. He was pas­sion­ate about abo­rig­i­nal rights and tra­di­tional ways.

He is sur­vived by five chil­dren, Ginny, Bryan, Nathan, Deven, baby Seven; four step-chil­dren, Brae­don, Leon, Drake, Leanne; 13 grand­chil­dren, Ma­son, Gar­ri­son, Bryson, Carl­son, Kai­son, Kevin jij, Sara, Ken­zie, Ser­ena, Jaxon, baby Bryan, Enzo and Maya; brother, John Wayne; two sis­ters, Ju­lena, Ducy (Bob); his brothers and sis­ters in the Mi’kmaq war­rior so­ci­ety; seven god­chil­dren, Ha­zlee, Amy, Dy­lan, Fred, Rene, Sili­pai, Car­lee; many nieces and neph­ews.

He was pre­de­ceased by six brothers, Fred, Lawrence ‘Lunch’, Wal­ter, Alan, Charles ‘Chucky’, Carl David; grand­fa­ther, Grand Chief Gabriel Syl­li­boy.
