Fu­neral ser­vice for the late Mal­colm Camp­bell Par­sons, 84, Troy, In­ver­ness County, was held Oc­to­ber 4 in St. David’s United Church, Port Hast­ings, with Rev­erend Heather D. Manuel of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial was in St. David’s Ceme­tery, Port Hast­ings.

Mr. Par­sons died Septem­ber 28, 2018, in Port Hawkes­bury Nurs­ing Home.

Born in Saint John, New Bruns­wick, he was a son of the late Ge­orge and Mar­garet (Simp­son) Par­sons. On De­cem­ber 31, 1957, he mar­ried Vi­ola Adelia (Thomp­son). He was a jack-of-all­trades, he could and would fix just about any­thing. He be­came a Mas­ter Watch­maker while liv­ing in Saint John, then owned his own busi­ness and worked for G.B. Mur­phy’s Lim­ited while liv­ing in Glen Mar­garet. He later moved to Saint Ninian, Cape Bre­ton, where he farmed un­til mov­ing back to Saint John and Dar­lings Is­land, N.B., where he learned the trade of gold­smithing. He op­er­ated his own jew­ellery and watch re­pair busi­ness in Mar­ket Square, Saint John. Later he re­turned to Cape Bre­ton, where he built his last home at the age of 70 at Bethel Drive.

He is sur­vived by his wife of 60 years, Vi­ola; two sons, Stephen (Shirley), Travis (Malinda); daugh­ter, Darlene (Joseph) Gil­lis; seven grand­chil­dren, Ni­cole Par­sons (Tim Gallery), Scott, James and Bren­nan Gil­lis, Alexan­dra, Laura and Kath­leen Par­sons; great­grand­daugh­ter, Ri­ley Gallery; three daugh­ters, Jo­ce­lyn, Terry, Joanne; their chil­dren and grand­chil­dren.

He was pre­de­ceased by his son, Lloyd Par­sons; three brothers, Ge­orge Par­sons, Bill Gor­don, John Gor­don, in child­hood; two sis­ters, Mar­ion Van­buskirk, Mary Law­ton.
