Mi­nor hockey ac­tion heat­ing up lo­cal rinks

The Antigo­nish pee wee fe­male Bull­dogs picked up three wins in re­cent play.

On Oct 20, they edged the Pic­tou Sub­way Se­lects by the score of 4-3. Goal scor­ers for Antigo­nish were Aylee Glenn with three and Maisie Ar­se­nault.

They played two games Oct. 21 ver­sus the Colch­ester Cy­clones.

In game one, a 7-1 win for the Bull­dogs, goal scor­ers were Jenna Beaton and Glenn with two each, and sin­gle tal­lies by Mia Mac­don­ald, Julia Mur­ray and Laci Boyd.

The sec­ond game was closer with Antigo­nish win­ning 3-1 win. Jenna Beaton, Boyd and Brook­lyn Chisholm did the scor­ing.

Ban­tam ‘A’ fe­male

The ban­tam ‘A’ fe­male Bull­dogs had mixed results over the same week­end with two wins and a loss.

Play­ing two games on Oct. 20, they lost the first one 3-1 to Metro West Force White with Julia-sarah Mac­don­ald scor­ing Antigo­nish’s lone goal.

It was the same score in their sec­ond game but this time in favour of the Bull­dogs, in a game ver­sus Metro West Force Red.

Bull­dog goals came off the sticks off Alexis Macdougall, Kaylee Con­nors and Jae­lyn Rovers.

The fol­low­ing day, the team recorded a 7-2 over Metro East In­ferno Red, in Dart­mouth.

Lau­ren Keats scored four times in the win with sin­gle goals be­ing recorded by Kara Beaton, Brook­lyn Carter and Rovers.

Ban­tam ‘AA’ Bull­dogs

The Antigo­nish Ban­tam ‘AA’ Bull­dogs took both games of a home-and-home ver­sus Aca­dia dur­ing the week­end.

In Wolfville for game one, the Bull­dogs won 9-3 with Keith Thom­son record­ing the hat-trick. An­drew Mur­ray scored twice in the vic­tory and sin­gles came from Luke Cormier, Phoenix Ly­don Ryan, Daniel Chais­son and Brody Macpher­son.

Host­ing the Axemen, the fol­low­ing day at the Antigo­nish Arena, the Bull­dogs came out with an­other win against their Val­ley ri­vals by the score of 5-3.

Scor­ing for the ‘Dogs’ were Ly­don-ryan with two, and Macpher­son, Chais­son and Da­mon Mac­don­ald with one each.

Fundy High­land

The Fundy High­land Ban­tam AA Sub­way Se­lects recorded three wins over the week­end to im­prove to 4-0 to start the Pro­vin­cial Ban­tam AA Fe­male season.

Game one saw the Se­lects blank the Val­ley Wild 4-0. Olivia Fitt led the Se­lects with two goals. Mairead Macpher­son with a goal and as­sist and Sarah Fraser added sin­gles.

Willa Evans and Erin Macneil recorded two as­sists each. Sin­gle as­sists went to Madi­son Be­son Megan Smith and Julia Mac­don­ald.

Gabby Ar­se­nault recorded the shutout.

In game two, the Se­lects beat the Metro West Force Blue 4-1. Jaylen Langille led the win­ners with two goals. Macneil with a goal and as­sist and Be­son, into an empty net, rounded out the scor­ing. Smith added an as­sist and Ar­se­nault was the win­ning goal­tender.

In game three, the Se­lects de­feated Metro West Force Blue, again, by a 4-0 score. Ken­zie Green­corn Bail­lie Grif­fon, Fitt and Macneil scored sin­gles.

El­lie Clarke and Emily Hart recorded two as­sists apiece. Evans, Mac­don­ald, Be­son and Bree Macpher­son added sin­gle as­sists, and Ar­se­nault posted the shutout.
