Fu­neral ser­vice for the late Eli­nor Whitty, 65, was held Oc­to­ber 21 in C.L. Curry Fu­neral Home, Antigo­nish, with Dea­con Art Ri­ley of­fi­ci­at­ing. A pri­vate fam­ily burial will be held in Ste­wart­dale Cemetery, Why­co­co­magh, at a later date.

Ms. Whitty died Oc­to­ber 15, 2018, in Dart­mouth.

Read­ers at the fu­neral ser­vice were Janet Proc­tor, Ethel Whitty and Kim Sinclair Whitty. Mu­sic was pro­vided by vi­o­lin­ist John Pel­lerin, Shan­thi Besso, Kate Proc­tor and Jane Proc­tor.

Born Septem­ber 9, 1953, in Syd­ney, she was a daugh­ter of the late Ge­orge and Effie (Mor­ri­son) Whitty. In her teen years, she en­joyed singing with lo­cal band Mo­nop­oly in Syd­ney and con­tin­ued to en­joy singing karaoke through­out her life. She lived in On­tario for many years. She worked at Xerox Canada in Toronto for eight years, be­fore mov­ing to Kitch­ener to raise her chil­dren and work part-time.

She is sur­vived by her son, Ed­ward ‘Ted’ (Ash­ley) Cooper, Kitch­ener; daugh­ter, Kate Cooper, Kitch­ener; two grand­chil­dren,

Jack and Jonah Cooper; three broth­ers, Don­ald (He­len) Whitty, Toronto; Arlen (Lena Cameron) Whitty, Syd­ney; Ger­ard, Co­quit­lam, Bri­tish Columbia; three sis­ters, Janet (Wal­ter) Proc­tor, Antigo­nish; Mar­ian (Peter) van Leeuwen, Burn­aby, B.C.; Ethel (Colin Macneil) Whitty, Van­cou­ver; many nieces and neph­ews.

She was pre­de­ceased by sis­terin-law, Marie (Arlen) Whitty.
