Over the limit
On Sunday, police received a traffic complaint after the driver of a pickup truck was allegedly observed drinking a beer. Police located the vehicle on Richmond Street and initiated a traffic stop. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers reportedly observed several open containers of alcohol scattered throughout the vehicle. As a result, a roadside test was administered. The driver reportedly failed the test and was arrested for driving with over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The man was transported to headquarters for further testing, which revealed more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. The 53-year-old Chatham man was charged with having a blood-alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and was released with a court date.
