Im­paired charge laid af­ter crash

A 44-year-old Dover Town­ship man was charged af­ter a crash on Fri­day. At ap­prox­i­mately 6 p.m., Chatham Kent po­lice re­sponded to a mo­tor ve­hi­cle col­li­sion in Dover. Po­lice ar­rived on scene and found a man trapped un­der one of the in­volved vehicles. Upon be­ing ex­tri­cated, it was de­ter­mined he was one of the driv­ers and was be­lieved to be im­paired, po­lice said. The ac­cused was trans­ported to the Chatham Kent Health Al­liance where he pro­vided breath tests with re­sults over two and a half times the le­gal limit, po­lice said. He was charged with im­paired oper­a­tion of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle and driv­ing with more than 80 mgs of al­co­hol in his blood. The ac­cused was re­leased from po­lice cus­tody with a court date.
