A magical wedding

The Chatham Daily News - - ENTERTAINMENT - MELISSA HANK

Once Upon a Time will soon lead to a happily-ever-after for two of the show’s main characters. At the end of this past Sunday’s episode, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) rescued Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) from Neverland, prompting him to propose.

Fans won’t have to wait long for the Storybrooke wedding either — it’ll happen in the May 7 episode,

The Song in Your Heart. And, as the title implies, it will be a musical extravaganza worthy of animated bluebirds and lace-trimmed dreams.

“When we started talking about the musical, we wanted it to be a special episode,” executive producer Edward Kitsis told Entertainment Weekly. “We thought Emma’s wedding felt like the natural milestone for us.” Now in its sixth season, Once

Upon a Time is also facing a shakeup behind the scenes.

In March, reports surfaced that Morrison and O’Donoghue, as well as cast members Lana Parrilla and Robert Carlyle, had been offered new contracts with the show. But others, including Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas, could be bumped down to guest-star status in a possible season 7.

Regardless, the season 6 finale airing May 14 will offer closure to ongoing storylines and open things up to a show reset — one aimed at boosting ratings. While an average of 11 million U.S. viewers were under the fairy-tale drama’s spell in the first season, the current one is hovering around a less-thanmagical three million.

ABC hasn’t yet ordered another go-round of the B.C.-filmed series, but TVLine reports the upcoming season finale will introduce a cynical young man played by Andrew J. West and a precocious girl played by Alison Fernandez. They’d both be regular cast members if the show goes on.

In Canada, Once Upon a Time also airs on CTV.
