Maroons acquire goalie
The Chatham Maroons acquired the rights to 20-year-old goalie Ryan Wagner from the Stratford Warriors on Tuesday. The Indianapolis native was 5-2-0 with two shutouts, a 1.87 goalsagainst average and .946 save percentage last season with the Cambridge Winter Hawks. He was 2-2 in the playoffs with a 2.84 GAA and .906 save percentage. He began last season with the Fort Frances Lakers in the Superior International Junior Hockey League and was 5-2-2 with a 3.05 GAA before going to Cambridge. Wagner didn’t play for the Warriors at the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League showcase last weekend, but he was 1-1 in two pre-season games with a 5.01 GAA and .833 save percentage. The Maroons are off to a 0-2-0-0 start. They will play their home opener Sunday against the Komoka Kings at Memorial Arena at 7 p.m.
