It is with great sorrow that the family of William (Bill) Hartley Mackenzie announce his passing in the Perley Rideau Veterans’ Centre in Ottawa, Ont., on June 22, 2020 at the age of 97. Born in Halifax, he moved to Ottawa with his family in 1957. Bill served in the RCAF during the Second World War, was a military officer with the Halifax Rifles and the IV PLDGS in Ottawa, achieving the rank of Major, and had a long career at National Defence. In his retirement Bill and Ina spent winters in Florida and travelled the world. A gentle soul, he was known for his kindness, grace, sense of humour, endless stories, and his mischievou­s smile. He will be missed by his loving wife, Ina (d’entremont) and their extended families. A private graveside service will take place in Beechwood National Military Cemetery.
