Fifty years of mu­sic for Bernie Burke

PARRS­BORO — In giv­ing his an­nual re­port to the Parrs­boro Band As­so­ci­a­tion at its an­nual meet­ing on Sun­day af­ter­noon, band mu­si­cal di­rec­tor Bernie Burke noted 1981 is the be­gin­ning of his 50th year of mu­si­cal in­volve­ment.

Mr. Burke took his first mu­sic les­son at the age of eight, he was told, and has been as­so­ci­ated with bands ever since then. The Jog­gins na­tive be­came mu­si­cal di­rec­tor of the Parrs­boro Cit­i­zens’ Band in 1947.
